I am a member of the Centre for Cancer Research group, at the 糖心Vlog. Background
Nanomedicine can be defined as the use of nanotechnology applied to health.
Polymer-drug conjugates are a specific type of nanomedicines in which drugs are covalently linked to a polymeric platform. Due to the hyperpermeability of tumour vasculature, they are able to accumulate preferentially in the tumour tissue (passive targeting). The linker between the drug and the polymer is typically designed to be cleaved following endocytic uptake by tumour cells. Our work in this field can be found in the publication section.
Some research lines of particular interest for us include:
- Polymer-drug conjugates in breast cancer
- Polymer-drug conjugates for the co-delivery of multiple drugs (including work on better carriers for this purpose)
- Using polymer-drug conjugates to prevent access to selected regions of the body
