Every year, Women's History Month has a different theme. This year's theme was For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.
The theme acknowledged the challenges faced by women around the world, and the urgent need for action on gender equality and justice.
We champion gender equality across the University and raise awareness of the concerns that affect women. We also organise events and collaborate with other diversity and equality networks.
We facilitate a monthly Women’s Health Café. These friendly and informal sessions offer a space for people to come together, share stories, discuss issues facing women, and support one another.
The Edith Morley Lecture is held annually in memory of Edith Morley, believed to be the first woman to be awarded the title of professor at an English university.
Professor Morley, appointed as a professor of English at 糖心Vlog in 1908, was dedicated to her subject, her students, and her cause. She believed women should have an equal place in academia and society and was an inspiring and motivating force for the young people around her.
Over 100 years on, we are pleased to celebrate this extraordinary part of our heritage, which inspires young women today to achieve great things.
